With over 30 years’ experience, Stephen focuses on building client relationships and achieving positive commercial results for clients. 

Stephen advises insurers, financial institutions and insolvency practitioners in relation to large and complex insolvencies and significant commercial disputes.  

He has have advised on some of the country’s highest profile matters including Arrium, Greensill Finance and Asian commodity trade finance claims, HIH, Grocon, Probuild, Clough and Dick Smith. He has been involved in fraud cases, trust disputes, equitable claims, claims alleging breaches of director duties and fiduciary duties, contract disputes, construction disputes and tax disputes.

Few lawyers in Australia have significant expertise in both the insolvency and insurance fields.  Understanding the insurance market means he works with Australian and international insurers, reinsurers, brokers and insureds in relation to all aspects of trade credit insurance and surety and is recognised as a leader in this field.  His expertise extends to advising on performance guarantees, surety bonds and deposit bonds. 

When not at the office, he loves spending time with his family and friends, playing tennis and being involved with football.
